Tradition, colour, and laughter at one of Hertfordshire’s finest venues
If there’s one thing I’ve learned photographing African weddings, it’s this: forget about running to a tight schedule. Things move at their own rhythm, and honestly, that’s part of the magic. Bukola & Folarin’s Nigerian wedding at North Mymms Park was the perfect example — a day where the only timeline that mattered was joy.
The celebrations started with the civil ceremony, where everyone turned up in their traditional outfits, each one brighter and more beautiful than the last. The energy in the room was electric — you could feel it in the singing, the clapping, and those moments when the bride and groom locked eyes and couldn’t stop smiling.
And when it came to the evening reception? Let’s just say Hertfordshire doesn’t see this kind of party every day. Speeches rolled into laughter, laughter rolled onto the dance floor, and soon the whole room was moving together. By the time I packed up my cameras, my cheeks hurt more from smiling than my shoulders did from carrying the gear.
Now, about North Mymms Park
This place never fails to impress. Set in the Hertfordshire countryside, it combines grandeur with intimacy — a Grade I listed mansion with stunning gardens, but versatile enough for the liveliest, most colourful celebrations. The Italian Garden and the Loggia were perfect for portraits, while the elegant interiors gave us plenty of space to capture candid moments without missing a beat.
