When your best friend swaps the camera for the aisle
This one’s extra special. Mihai isn’t just another groom to me — he’s one of my closest friends. We’ve worked together for years (he’s a machine behind the video camera, usually filming corporate stuff while I shoot stills). He’s also the guy who always shows up with 120% energy, zero fuss, and a laugh that makes you laugh too. So when he told me he and Thea were getting married at Burgh House in Hampstead, there was no way I was staying away from my camera.
And yes — I was at his stag-do too. Let’s just say there was fun, drinks, and maybe some material I’ll never reveal.
Ceremony in the Music Room
Burgh House is one of those historic Hampstead gems, all wood panelling and quiet charm. Their ceremony in the Music Room was exactly what they needed: warm, intimate, full of laughter and meaning. Thea looked radiant, Mihai tried to look composed (spoiler: he wasn’t), and the vows had us all grinning like kids.
Portraits in Hampstead
After the “I dos,” we wandered through the gardens and cobbled Hampstead lanes. Mihai, usually the guy holding a camera, finally got to be in front of mine — and he smashed it. He cracked jokes, Thea kept laughing, and the two of them just moved naturally together. My favourite shot? Thea mid-laugh on the staircase while Mihai looked at her like she was the only person in the world.
Reception Stories
The reception felt like a gathering of family and old friends. Speeches bounced between heartfelt and hilarious. At one point Mihai even tried to sing to Thea — and let’s just say he’s better behind a camera than a microphone. But honestly? It was perfect.
Why Burgh House Works
Tucked in the heart of Hampstead, Burgh House is a Grade I listed building with oak-panelled rooms, cosy gardens, and endless character. It’s perfect for couples like Mihai & Thea who wanted intimacy, atmosphere, and portraits with Hampstead charm.
Mihai & Thea — thank you for letting me capture your day. Photographing you wasn’t work, it was a gift. From stag-do drinks to wedding vows, I’ve loved every part of your story. Here’s to the next chapter (and yes, Mihai, you still owe me a round).
