Emotional vows, whisky friends, and a party in full flow
Some weddings you walk into as a photographer. Others, like Pam & Roger’s, you walk into as friends. We’ve known Roger since moving to the countryside, and over the years we’ve shared plenty of stories (and more than a few glasses of whisky). So photographing their Letchworth wedding at St Paul’s Church and Needham House Hotel was always going to feel a little extra special.
Ceremony at St Paul’s Church, Letchworth
Their ceremony took place at St Paul’s Church on Pixmore Way — a 1920s parish church with beautiful brickwork and a calm, intimate feel. When Pam walked in, Roger wasn’t smiling. He was holding back tears, eyes fixed on her with that “this is it” kind of look. It was raw, emotional, and unforgettable.
Portraits at Needham House Hotel
After the vows, we (me and Lucia, my partner in SpotyPhoto) took them outside at Needham House Hotel for portraits. The gardens gave us just enough autumn light, and Pam & Roger gave us plenty of laughter. Roger joked about grass stains on his suit shoes, Pam rolled her eyes, and in between the teasing we caught the tender moments that really matter.
Reception Energy
Inside Needham House, the reception was buzzing. Speeches had everyone bouncing between tears and belly laughs, the kind that make your cheeks ache. Dinner turned into clinking glasses, which turned into dancing, which turned into a full-blown party. By that point, I wasn’t sure if the whisky was in the glasses or already in the moves.
Why These Venues Work Together
St Paul’s Church, Letchworth: local history, intimate charm, and space for a heartfelt ceremony.
Needham House Hotel: boutique Hertfordshire venue with gardens for portraits and a perfect setting for relaxed receptions.
Together they gave Pam & Roger a day that was both meaningful and wildly fun — tradition at the church, celebration at the hotel.
