Laughter, pillow fights, and a sneak peek at a stunning Hertfordshire venue
Some couples arrive for their pre-wedding shoot with Pinterest boards and serious faces. Not these two. Meera & Krishn turned up ready to laugh, joke, and even stage a spontaneous pillow fight in the main hall of North Mymms Park. And honestly? It was perfect.
They invited me along while visiting the venue ahead of their big day, and it was the best kind of multitasking: scouting locations while also capturing their personalities in action. From silly prompts that got them giggling to quiet moments where they just looked at each other like no one else existed, it reminded me why I love pre-wedding shoots so much. By the end, they weren’t “posing” — they were just being themselves.
North Mymms Park really helped set the tone. With its Italian Garden, Loggia, and that famous wisteria wall, it’s one of Hertfordshire’s most photogenic venues. Even when the flowers weren’t in bloom, it gave us a backdrop that made every candid moment shine brighter.
And here’s the best part — we even won a WPJA Diamond Award for one of the images from this shoot. Not bad for a day that started as a simple venue visit!
Why Pre-Wedding Shoots Are Worth It
Whether you’re shy in front of the camera or you’re secretly a natural, an engagement session takes all the pressure off. It’s just a couple of hours to laugh, explore, and have fun together before the wedding whirlwind begins. And if that includes water guns, pets, or, yes, pillow fights in a Grade I listed house — even better.
Thank you, Meera & Krishn, for letting me tag along and capture your energy. Shoots like this are why I love what I do — full of fun, friendship, and those little unscripted moments that tell the real story.
