Delays, dancing, and a celebration like no other
If you’ve ever been to an African wedding, you know two things are guaranteed: delays and dancing. With Merveille & Jonathan, we got both in full measure — plus a whole lot of laughter and a guest list that seemed determined to out-party the couple themselves.
Morning Prep & Ceremony at Capel Manor
The morning began with the usual buzz of getting ready — hair, outfits, nerves, and at least three people asking, “What time are we actually starting?” (Spoiler: not the time on the invites). By the time we made it to Capel Manor Gardens in Enfield, the gardens were buzzing like a festival.
The ceremony itself was beautiful — vows exchanged in the open air, music drifting through the trees, flower petals flying. Guests were clapping, cheering, sometimes standing in the wrong place, but always fully involved. When the big “I do” finally came, you could feel the release of all that anticipation — and all those whispered jokes about running late.
Reception at Prince & Princess Wedding Hall
In the afternoon, we swapped greenery for grandeur at Prince & Princess Wedding Venue in north London. If Capel Manor was calm, Prince & Princess was pure fire. Chandeliers glowed, the stage was set, and the dance floor was already calling before the first course was even served.
Portraits, Speeches & Dancefloor Fire
I whisked the couple away for portraits between events, and honestly, they couldn’t stop laughing. Jonathan trying to keep his jacket straight, Merveille teasing him about his “serious face” — every shot felt alive.
Speeches? A mix of heartfelt stories and jokes that had the whole hall roaring. And then came the dancing. Traditional beats, chart hits, cousins spinning, elders showing moves nobody saw coming. The DJ barely had to touch the decks before the floor was packed. By the end, even I was tempted to put the camera down and join in.
