Football pitches, physiotherapy jokes, and a dancefloor to remember
If you ever need proof that Hindu weddings are equal parts beauty, chaos, and stamina, Nanda & Bhavik’s big day at The Hive London is Exhibit A. Between the colours, the rituals, the football pitch portraits, and the party that refused to end, this was one for the books.
Morning Prep & Ceremony at The Hive
The morning began with the usual wedding buzz: outfits being adjusted, jewellery clasped, and a few nerves hidden behind jokes. By the time we moved into the ceremony inside The Hive, the energy was full throttle. The mandap glowed under the lights, family packed in, music soared, and petals flew.
Like every great Hindu wedding, there were delays, laughter, last-minute fixes, and the kind of emotional high that makes time feel like it bends. My favourite frame? Bhavik grinning mid-ritual while Nanda’s family gave him that “are you ready for this?” look.
Portraits on the Pitch & in Canons Park
After the ceremony we grabbed the couple for portraits, starting right on The Hive’s football pitch. Yes, it’s usually Barnet FC’s home ground, but for a short while it was theirs — and they owned it. From there we headed to Canons Park, where we found quieter corners, soft autumn light, and the kind of space that lets couples breathe after the rush.
Nanda teased Bhavik about his “model face,” he cracked back about her bossy physio side, and the laughter carried into every shot. Honestly, I didn’t need to pose them much — they were too busy making each other laugh.
Reception at The Hive
By the evening, the focus shifted back inside The Hive for the reception. Speeches went from emotional to hilarious (sometimes in the same sentence), guests feasting on delicious dishes from Shimla Foods (a favourite South Asian caterer with flair). Meanwhile, the video side of things was in the hands of Rikesh (my co-creative that day) capturing every laugh, dance move, and emotional glance as they happened, and the dancefloor… well, let’s just say it needed a physiotherapist on standby. Luckily, Nanda was already qualified.
It was the perfect finale to a day that had already given us everything.
