From elegant beginnings to a vibrant Congolese celebration
Some weddings feel like a journey — and Olga & Guelor’s big day was exactly that. We began in the elegant rooms of West Lodge Park in Barnet, where the morning was filled with laughter, family warmth, and just the right amount of nervous excitement. There’s something special about bridal preparations in such a setting: the Georgian interiors, the views over Hertfordshire’s countryside, and that calm-before-the-storm atmosphere that makes every click of the camera feel significant.
But if West Lodge Park was the calm, The Decorium in Wood Green brought the storm — and what a storm it was! Congolese weddings are always a joy to photograph, and this one was bursting with colour, music, and energy. From the emotional entrance to the dancing that barely paused all night, it was impossible not to get swept up in the rhythm and excitement.
One of my favourite moments? Watching Olga make her entrance, stunning in her dress, while Guelor’s face lit up with pride and joy. And from there, the day just got better: speeches that had everyone laughing (and maybe crying a little), dance floors that never emptied, and a sense of celebration that’s hard to put into words but easy to see in the photos.
Why These Venues Worked So Well Together
West Lodge Park provided the perfect elegant setting for the bridal preparations. Its interiors and gardens make for relaxed, intimate portraits before the whirlwind of the day.
The Decorium is built for a party. Its spacious, versatile hall, dramatic lighting, and atmosphere made it the ideal home for a vibrant African celebration.
Together, they gave Olga & Guelor the best of both worlds: elegance and tradition in the morning, pure celebration and energy in the evening.
Olga & Guelor — thank you for letting me be part of such a beautiful day. Your wedding was the perfect mix of elegance, emotion, and Congolese joy, and it’s one I’ll never forget.
